Fortune Teller | conceptual design
Fortune tellers have always mirrored the dreams of their makers. A simple piece of paper became a forecaster of the future that could be made instantly from muscle memory. They predicted everything from good grades to confessions from our crushes—defining childhood moments. In reminiscing on this game, I wondered—what would a fortune teller look like for a typical 20-something-year-old?

The fortune teller became a wallet with small trinkets deep within, all with their own stories and “fortunes” to tell. Numbers are represented as coins grouped in order of value, one through eight. A game surrounding the idealism of children transforms into a nostalgic, nebulous collection of items that mirror the imprecision of young adult life.
